Silver
Daily Wear: After wearing, gently wipe your sterling or fine silver jewelry with a soft, dry cloth to remove any oils or perspiration.
Storage: Store your sterling or fine silver in an airtight container or a tarnish-preventive bag when not being worn. Keep it separate from other metals to avoid scratches.
Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Remove your sterling silver jewelry before swimming in chlorinated or salt water, using household cleaners, applying lotions, perfumes, or hairsprays. These substances can accelerate tarnishing.
Cleaning: To remove tarnish, you can use a specialized silver polishing cloth or a gentle silver cleaning solution. Follow the instructions on the cleaning product carefully. You can also try a paste of baking soda and water, gently rubbing it on the tarnished areas with a soft cloth, then rinsing thoroughly and drying. Make sure the polishing compounds to not touch the surrounding components or gemstones.
Sterling silver (.925) is a beautiful and durable metal, but it can tarnish over time due to exposure to air and moisture. This is because it contains 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals. Copper is the most common metal used for the 7.5% which is the metal that easily oxidizes. The copper is used to harden and strengthen the silver, since silver is a soft metal.
Fine silver (.999) or pure silver, is highly resistant to tarnishing it because it lacks the copper found in sterling silver. However it may still be prone to tarnish, but very slowly. Because it is so soft, .999 silver can sometimes look tarnished simply because it picks up micro-scratches and loses its mirror-like shine faster than harder metals.
Gold
Daily Wear: Wipe your solid gold jewelry with a soft, dry cloth after each wear to remove oils and dirt. Gold is a relatively soft metal that can scratch or dent. To minimize wear, follow the "Last On, First Off" rule: put your jewelry on after applying perfumes, lotions, and makeup, and remove it before physical activities like exercising or gardening.
Storage: Proper storage prevents scratches and tangling. Store each piece separately in a fabric-lined jewelry box, individual soft pouch, in an airtight container, or a tarnish-preventive bag. Since gold can scratch other gold, keeping them apart is essential for maintaining a smooth finish.
Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Chemicals like chlorine, bleach, and ammonia are highly damaging; they can weaken the gold's structure and cause permanent discoloration. Always remove your jewelry before swimming in pools or using household cleaning agents.
Gentle Cleaning: For regular maintenance, soak your jewelry in a solution of warm water and mild dish soap for a few minutes. Gently scrub crevices with a soft-bristled toothbrush, rinse thoroughly under warm water, and pat dry thoroughly with a lint-free cloth.
No Harsh Polishes: Use a specialized gold polishing cloth to restore shine and remove light surface scratches. Buff gently and avoid over-polishing, as the micro-abrasives in the cloth remove a tiny layer of metal each time. For deeper scratches or heirloom pieces, consider a professional polishing once a year.
The higher the solid gold content, the less likely the gold will tarnish.
Gold Fill
Daily Wear: Wipe your gold-filled jewelry with a soft, dry cloth after each wear to remove oils and dirt.
Storage: Store your gold-filled pieces in an airtight container or a tarnish-preventive bag (which is best), a separate compartment in your jewelry box, or in a soft pouch to prevent scratches from other jewelry.
Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Remove your gold-filled jewelry before; showering, swimming (especially in chlorinated or salt water), exercising, applying lotions, perfumes, and/or hairsprays. Doing this can prevent the gold layer from becoming dull over time.
Gentle Cleaning: Gently clean your gold-filled jewelry with a mild solution of soap and water. Use a soft cloth to wipe it down, then dry it thoroughly. Avoid scrubbing too hard, as this could potentially damage the gold layer.
No Harsh Polishes: Do not use abrasive jewelry cleaners or very abrasive polishing cloths, as they can be too harsh for gold-filled jewelry.
Gold-filled jewelry has a thick layer of solid gold bonded to a base metal, making it a more affordable and durable alternative to solid gold. Legally, gold-filled jewelry must contain atleast 5% gold. With proper care, it can last for many years.
Gold Vermeil
Daily Wear: Always make your jewelry the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off to avoid contact with perfumes and lotions. To preserve the finish, remove your pieces before exercising, swimming, or showering.
Storage: Store your jewelry in a cool, dry place, ideally in an airtight pouch or a lined jewelry box. Keeping pieces separate prevents tangling and stops harder gemstones from scratching the delicate gold surface.
Gentle Cleaning: After wearing, lightly wipe your jewelry with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove any lingering oils or dust. If needed, use a bowl of warm water with a drop of mild soap, then pat it completely dry immediately.
No Harsh Polishes: Avoid using abrasive polishing cloths or chemical dips, as these can prematurely wear away the gold layer. A simple, untreated microfiber cloth is all you need to restore a soft, natural glow.
Gold Vermeil: Gold vermeil is a high-quality finish featuring a thick layer of gold (at least 2.5 microns) over a solid sterling silver base. This combination offers superior durability and a rich, luxurious luster that is perfect for sensitive skin.
Gold Plated

Gold Plated: Gold plating involves bonding a thin layer of gold onto a base metal or sterling silver for a beautiful, budget-friendly shimmer. It is a wonderful way to enjoy the look of solid gold while keeping your collection light and accessible.
Gemstones
Natural, synthetic or lab grown gemstones are beautiful and unique, but their hardness and durability can vary.
Avoid Impact: Gemstones can chip or crack if subjected to sharp blows or falls. Handle your gemstone jewelry with care.
Storage: Store gemstone jewelry separately from harder materials like diamonds or metals that could scratch them.
Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Sudden temperature changes can sometimes cause fractures in certain gemstones. Avoid exposing your jewelry to extreme heat or cold.
Gentle Cleaning: Clean your gemstones with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, or steam cleaners, as these can damage some stones.
Avoid Prolonged Contact with Water: For porous stones like Turquoise, Lapis Lazuli, Ethopian Opal, and Pearls - a little water for cleaning won't hurt - but prolonging contact with water may discolor and/or dull the surface.
However, pearls actually need a small amount of moisture to stay healthy. If stored in an airtight safe or a very dry environment, they can dehydrate, which may cause the surface to crack.
Since our pearl jewelry may also be attached to metal that may tarnish - a good way to store this would be to place an anti-tarnish strip inside a breathable cloth pouch (like silk or cotton) with the jewelry. The strip chemically absorbs the gases that cause tarnish, allowing the pearl to breathe while the metal stays bright.
Be Mindful of Using Personal Care Products and Chemicals: Remove gemstone jewelry before applying lotions, perfumes, or hairsprays, as these can dull the luster or even discolor some stones - which can also soak up these chemicals.
rPet Cord
While durable, our 100% recycled polyester R-Pet cord can still be affected by excessive moisture and wear.
Avoid Prolonged Water Exposure: While it can withstand some moisture, avoid prolonged soaking in water, as this can weaken the fibers over time. Remove cord jewelry before swimming or showering.
Gentle Cleaning: If the cord gets dirty, gently wipe it with a damp cloth and mild soap. Allow it to air dry completely before wearing. Avoid harsh chemicals or scrubbing.
Avoid Stretching: Be mindful not to excessively stretch or pull on the cord, as this can cause it to lose its shape or break over time.
Consider Replacement: Depending on wear and tear, the cord may eventually need to be replaced to maintain the integrity of your jewelry.
Adjustable Rings
To keep your adjustable rings in beautiful shape for years to come, it’s important to treat the metal with a little extra tenderness. Here is how to care for your adjustable pieces:
- Find Your Fit Once: Gently adjust the ring to your preferred finger and try to leave it there. Repeatedly bending the metal back and forth can cause "work hardening," which eventually makes the band brittle and prone to snapping.
- Use Gentle Pressure: When resizing, apply slow, even pressure around the entire circumference of the band rather than pulling on the ends. This helps maintain the perfectly circular shape of the ring.
- Remove Before "Heavy" Tasks: Because adjustable bands are often more delicate, take them off before lifting heavy objects, gardening, or cleaning to prevent the band from warping or catching.
- Slide, Don't Stretch: Once you’ve found your size, try to slide the ring over your knuckle rather than opening and closing the gap each time you wear it.
- Keep it Dry and Clean: Just like fixed rings, moisture can lead to tarnish. Remove your ring before swimming or applying lotions, and give it a quick wipe with a soft microfiber cloth after a day of wear.
